Appearance and Temperament of Maltipoos
▶ Maltipoos have an affectionate and gentle persona. These dogs are suitable for families and seniors.
▶ Owing to their loving and cheerful nature, and their intelligence, they can be trained to become wonderful therapy dogs. They love to cuddle, and are perceptive to the changes in human behavior.
An adult Maltipoo sitting next to a German Shepherd should give you an idea about their size.
▶ Being low-maintenance pets, they are a perfect choice for first-time owners. They are a delight to train, and are very receptive.
▶ Their lifespan is fairly good―most of these dogs are known to live for an average of 12-15 years, with some making it closer to 20 as well.
▶ They tend to maintain their fun-loving and playful nature well into their adulthood and senior years too, which basically means that you’ve got a happy companion for long.
▶ On the downside, these dogs love to bark, and are quite vocal about every emotion they feel. However, this can be controlled through appropriate behavioral training.
▶ Maltipoos are quite high-strung, and may not like being clumsily handled. Therefore, these may not be an ideal pet in a household with children below the age of 7.
▶ These dogs are very active and upbeat. They love to go for walks, which preferably should be an everyday ritual.
▶ Being a mixed breed, it is difficult to accurately predict its looks―the hair can be curly like the Poodle’s, straight like the Maltese dog’s, or an in-between wavy.

▶ The color of the coat is commonly either cream or white, but it can vary even within the same litter. You’ll find Maltipoos that are gray, chocolate, black, or apricot-colored.
▶ Because of their long hair, Maltipoos require regular monthly grooming sessions. Their hair needs to be brushed everyday to keep it from matting or tangling.
▶ Surprisingly, these dogs don’t shed too much, and are considered by some to be hypoallergenic. They do, of course, release dander, and one may be allergic to it.
Your Maltese Poodle mix can bring about all kinds of reactions in you―there will be times when you’d wish he’d just stop the barking, and there will be times when he’ll curl up next to you on a cold, wintery day.
