The Cairn terrier is a hunting dog that can be crossed with many dogs breeds. The different mix breeds are presented in this article.
The cairn terrier is a working dog that originated in the Scottish Highlands. It is commonly used for burrowing prey and hunting. In the year 1909, it was brought in dog shows in Britain. However, it was introduced as a short-haired Skye terrier. The Skye terrier breeders didn’t accept this name and the dog was renamed as the Cairn terrier. The thick coat of this dog protects it from harsh weather conditions like snow, rain, sleet, etc. Brambles and sharp-edged rocks are also found in the region from where this dog originates. The coat therefore provides protection from these rocks.
